About the Author
Eugene R Kumpula
Eugene Russell Kumpula grew up in the small town of Sebeka, Minnesota, where life was rooted in family, hard work, and the rhythms of farm life. In a time before screens and constant distractions, stories were shared face to face—around the table, in the fields, and beside a warm fire at the end of the day.
Those early experiences left a lasting impression.
As the years passed, Eugene began to recognize that many of those simple yet meaningful stories were quietly fading—stories of growing up on the farm, the games children played, and the lessons learned through everyday life. He saw how easily those memories could be lost if they weren’t shared.
That realization inspired him to write.
Through the Grandpa, Tell Me About the Good Old Days series, Eugene invites families to slow down and reconnect. His books are designed to spark conversations between grandparents and grandchildren—creating moments where stories are told, laughter is shared, and memories are passed on.
Eugene writes with a deep appreciation for the past and a simple purpose:
to help families preserve the stories that matter most—while there’s still time to hear them.
